Job Details

Laser Technician will manage and support all aspects of laser equipment and operations for laser welding technology. Support the efforts of production lines utilizing laser welding, all aspects of production with regards to laser welding, all aspects of laser equipment and supporting equipment to include cooling systems, exhaust systems, laser supply gas systems, and compressed air systems and control of all laser parts inventory and procurement.

Work closely with all department managers, set-up men, and operators to always maintain laser welding consistency and quality. Coordinate with the General Manager for peripheral support equipment needs. Communicate with outside vendors for procurement of required equipment, parts, repairs as necessary for laser components.

Major Directive: Maintain consistent laser quality performance to include:

  • Troubleshooting laser problems
  • Perform preventative maintenance
  • Control and install equipment updates/upgrades
  • Assist in training of department managers and operators as needed
  • Assist maintenance department in maintaining required support equipment
  • Maintain part inventory and procurement
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and effective department
  • Work with other divisions on projects, technology, and products to meet company overall goals as directed by the General Manager

Education and Experience: Must have working knowledge of performance and inner working of CO2 (gas reliant) laser producing equipment – specifically PRC brand Lasers of older and newer variety. 3+ years of practical experience working on this type of laser. Must have working knowledge of:

  • Electrical background
  • Circuit board knowledge
  • Computer systems
  • Laser gas systems
  • Chilled water systems
  • Compressed air systems
  • Exhaust systems
